Four servers with stopped backups
The servers were running, but their Azure backups had stopped months earlier. The team needed to confirm other coverage, restore required schedules and test recovery.
Important data with a short backup window
A live database retained three days of backups and had no standby. Dex brought the recovery window, acceptable downtime and related settings into one review.
Find spend your business no longer needs.
A separate review found about $200/month in unused Azure resources, including empty App Service hosting plans. That was observed spend, not a claimed saving.
The action was to confirm dependencies and remove services that were no longer needed. A recurring review keeps unused services and renewal deadlines from disappearing into the background.
Azure Advisor is useful. The review still needs an owner.
Azure Advisor and other Microsoft tools already provide recommendations. Dex’s work is reviewing the agreed systems together, explaining the business consequence and giving the IT team a prioritised action list.
Read only access is permanent. Your team carries out the changes and keeps responsibility for operations.
